Psychiatry

[n. psychiatry] Science of diseases where interactions in the mind are disturbed, or the study of the pathology of the mind. There are many schools in psychiatry. To put and end to definitions and diagnostic problems, two systems were introduced: The ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases van de WHO) and DSM. Current psychiatry approach psychiatric disorders usually at two ways:
1. Psychotherapy
2. Pharmacotherapy

1. Adler, Alfred (1875-1937)    Neo-Freudian. Inferiority and superiority complex. Compensation
2. Alzheimer, Alois (1864-1915)    Described dementia of the Alzheimer's type
3. Asperger, Hans    Asperger's disorder
4. Freud, Sigmund (1856-1939)    Founded psychoanalysis
5. Jung, Carl Gustav (1875-1961)    Neo-Freudian. Anima, animus, archetypes, collective unconsciousness, extrovert, introvert, personality types
6. Kanner, Leo (1894-1981)    Kanner's syndrome (infantile autism)
