What is a balanced vision on homeopathy
for children: pediatric homeopathy
There is essentially no difference in the way homeopathy works for children
or adults. Like normal homeopathy it is advisable to ask for a consult of a classical
homeopath for a thorough treatment. Children types
or constitutions are described by
different homeopaths. Depending on the perception of the homeopath children
are easy or difficult to treat. The nonverbal communication of children is
more pure than adults, this aspect makes it easier to distinguish the archetype,
and especially this aspect should be discussed in the description of
archetypes. The inability to speak out makes it more difficult to treat
children, but this means children don't keep up appearances the way adults
do.
Children are relatively healthier than adults, therefore their constitutions
are also more pure and according to the "books". Because of
their youthful condition they react better and faster on homeopathic
remedies; actually it is advisable to start quality homeopathic treating
as young as possible.
Children live different stages. During pregnancy the unborn "child"
experience the most phases, an homeopathic remedy can be given to the mother
according to her complaints, regular medicines are e.g. Hammamelis, Pulsatilla,
Helleboris. Labor remedies require the specialty of quick observation and
acute action from the homeopath, but common remedies are Pulsatilla, Causticum,
Gelsemium, Aconitum, seed remedies etc., those remedies could also help the
newborn. As the child starts to develop a personality each stage could fit a
remedy (but only one simillimum
over time), or a remedy could be searched for the new constitution of the
child. More known stages are e.g. the remedy Chamomile when children get
teeth, have colic's etc. or Stramonium when they are frightened, see
"ghosts" and have bad dreams.
And then there are the miasms;
transferred diseases from parents to child might need treatment as well. Every
time and with every child distinction and wisdom is needed, but good parents
already knew this.
