Essence

[n. essence; Lat.: essentia - essence, substance, being \ description homeopathy, psychology]
Main theme or "substance" of a subject or object. Used in homeopathy and the Bach Flower therapy to describe the main theme of a remedy or a patient, in psychology used as well. With the book "The stolen essences" from G. Vithoulkas, the term seemed to be introduced in homeopathy and is currently widely used. R. Sankaran (homeopath in India) took this philosophy to the next level with the introduction of words like "central disturbance", "delusion" or "sensation" which describe all in one or another way the essence. Often the essence is used in combination with "the totality" and "keynotes" to find the simillimum of the patient
