Materia Medica: [Materia Medica \ Lat. Materia - Raw material; Medica - (Female) physician, cure] Lit. Raw materials cure. Often just called: homeopathic remedies, but the materia medica is a catalog and knowledge of homeopathic remedies. The materia medica are used in different health practices, for example herbalism, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and homeopathy. The homeopathic materia medica is mostly based on the homeopathic materia medica pura but can be enlarged with an interpretation of the essence, totality, signature or other sources.
