Abstract:Stem cells therapy
This is one of the most promising new biotechnology therapies according to mainstream
science. Beside the ethical, legal and social issues, as science tries
to play God but lower themselves to cannibalism (taking cells from embryos can
hardly be called "donor" cells), it may even "save" lives,
but at the costs of others. The question is: will this therapy really benefit
mankind in medical sense ?
This is, again, no denial this therapy is effective,
but it a science, playing with life, not knowing the future consequences. Like
all "donor" tissue usually a medicine is necessary to suppress repellent
reactions of the body. The body reacts this way because the tissue is not its
own, it is actually invaded by another life
force and is asked to have a "symbiosis" with other life. History
teaches us that all ways to suppress the natural symbioses (suppress infections
with antibiotics etc.) will cause the natural symbioses to become creative in
the long run (natural adaptation and mutation) and cause new disease (addition:
see headline about TB
drug resistance Dec. 16 2006). The headline
from 8 March 2007 MSNBC reports that immune suppressing drugs are much more
expensive than the treatment itself; this promises a much bigger deal in the drug maker
market than currently if stem cell therapies become general accepted.
Even when the tissue should be cloned from your own body (future music so let's
also give an intuitive remark), this gene pool "play" will cause even
greater problems. We arrive at a point were genetics are apparently equal but
tissue with temporal
(another time of "conception") and space
(another location) shifts,
the foundations of the body universe aren't synchronic anymore, the identity of
the human gene pool is at stake, new psychological disease will have a new
"stem" which is not easily cut away anymore, since all humankind is
somehow "infected" with this inbreed, the embryos of our forefathers, by the many
treatments which everybody received at one or another time..
We look back at 19th age medical history as barbaric, we might look back as 21st
age medical history as the age medical quackery was supported by politics,
science and the majority of the population which missed the vision to protest
against one of the greatest blunders of mankind, the day our "stem"
was cut off.
I was one day ahead (see text above) in the recognition of identification problems with could come in the future. Yesterday (Dec.14-2006) Reuters had the headline "Virgin process can produce stem cells, study says", which means that through parthenogenesis (partheno - virgin; Genesis - first book of the bible with the creation described: making an embryo from a female egg without fertilization) science is now able to create mouse embryos and extract stem cells from it. As far as I can see there is no difference in the ethical dilemma when it should concern the human race because we're still talking about embryos, but let's skip more comments on this.
That man are becoming redundant is no news, but a therapy involving parthenogenesis is really science fiction becoming true and I mean also the "side effects". As male identity is connected by Jung with the "animus", influencing this animus in men could only result in shifting the other human archetypes as well. Jung discussed for example the anima (female), The Self (harmonizing), ego and the shadow. The shadow for example could bring forth the best and the worst in men. Is there any reason to think the worst in men will not appear when this technique is explored ? Ridiculous, see for yourself at: Doomsday.
Ok the next step, as "prophesized". The month January 2007 (this
topic: January 11) is
indeed becoming the golden
age of medical quackery (in my view) as "science" is taking the
next step: Making a new "species", a hybrid between animals and human
and using this new hybrid for stem cells. "God said, Let us make man in our own
image .. let them be masters of the fish .. birds .. cattle .. wild beasts ..
reptiles .. be fruitful, multiply." (Gen 1:26 The Jerusalem bible).
I wonder whether God meant this with mastering the animals. The British Human Fertilization
and Embryology Authority (HFEA) agree in principle with it, they just want to
wait for a public debate.
As is clear, my objections are not so much religious,
this should backfire on us as species as a whole, the boundaries of our species
is tested to the limit. From the point of view from evolution there is a problem
too: Why are we not able to manage stem cell therapy of our current species, the
human race ? Why is it that any remedy still has side effects ? (example Oct
22 2006). Because the therapy is allopathic,
it is different from the real cure. I almost don't want to
imagine the consequences, I leave it this time to your fantasy and science
fiction writers, I hope this is
no lonely voice in the desert
